great quote. Most apparent in the recent story in the US about the 51 year old actor who married a 16 year old "rising star." Just a look at the picture of the two of them sends chills up my spine
I couldn't resist ... I found the photo while reading the book ... and then the words and image just found each other! Underlying the humour is a truly grave concern: that the psychiatric powers-that-be have decided to remove what's known as 'Narcissistic Personality Disorder' from the next edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual. Seems that excessive self-inflation has become the norm. I'm not one to whack labels onto people, but it seems that the 'Me decade' of the 1980s has become the Me, ME, MEEE! circus of now ...
